Your Bharathanatyam teacher and Founder at Anura

Vidushi Sowmya Shree viz the disciple of Karnataka Kalashree Dr. Suparna Venkatesh and has been trained in Bharathanatyam for the past 20 years

Her dedicated practice and rigorous training have helped Sowmya grow as a fine dancer.
She successfully completed her Rangapravesha in June 2012 and bagged the 3rd rank in Vidwath Poorva conducted by KSEEB. She was the gold medalist of the state level competition held by International Dance Federation.

Under the able guidance of her guru and the constant support of her family Sowmya has performed in many state and national level programs. She has performed in various platforms and given more than 500 dance recitals throughout the country.

She has won many prizes in inter-school and intercollege competitions. She has bagged many awards and titles for her excellence in dance, some of them are

She won special credits for her knack in choreography when she was just 14 years old in her school. She has finished has Tritiya Sopan in Scouts and Guides and has completed her C certificate in NCC (Army wing).

‍Her involvement in organizing skills has added a feather to her cap. She has a stint in the movies with the movie “Naanu Gandhi” and other documentaries. She is rigorously training in the other fields of art- Carnatic music under her Guru Vidwan Dr Chintalapalli Ramesh and Konnakol from Vidwan BS Nagraj as well as Veena,Flute, Drums and Yoga.

Her interest also spans in other forms of classical dance, Folk dance, Yakshagana, Kalaripayattu, Chaau and Contemporary. She is distinction holder in drums by bagging 97% from Trinity College, London.

Sowmya has done her Bachelors in Business Administration in Presidency College, Diploma in Movement arts and Mixed Media from Attakkalari Center of arts and Masters in Performing Arts (Bharathanatyam) at REVA University.
She is the founder of Anura Centre for performing arts and co-founder Tandavika, the school of arts and is currently training around 100 students in the field of dance. She has been a judge for many events including personality, music and State level dance competitions.
